Amidst the ongoing panic situation wherein sensing shortage of fuel due to transporters strike city residents are flocking petrol pumps to get their vehicles fuelled up, Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner IAS Surabhi Malik has urged residents to exercise calm. However fuel supply is likely to normalise in sometime as few minutes ago truck unions have decided to call off strike after talks with oil companies.
Through a video message, DC Malik advised citizens not to panic and to avoid believing rumors. She assured the public that the administration is actively working to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fuel to the city's petrol pumps and senior officials have held meetings with petroleum dealers, transporters, and other stakeholders to address the issue.
Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the administration is committed to maintaining the supply chain from petroleum depots to the city's pumps. She also urged people not to form queues outside petrol pumps in an attempt to ration fuel.
Notably hundreds of two wheelers, four wheeler owners have been lining up outside petrol pumps of city ever since yesterday evening when the news of transporters , tanker drivers and commercial vehicle drivers going on indefinite strike against centre government’s new provision of 10 year jail and Rs. 7 lakh penalty in hit and run cases spread.
