Small Scale Industry Association AGM held, youth joining family business rather than going abroad honoured

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Small Scale Industry Association was held at a city hotel on Friday evening at a city hotel. The program was presided over by association president Amarjit Singh Chauhan while Chief Engineer of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Inderpal Singh was the chief guest on this occasion. The special highlight of the meeting was the honour ceremony of  the youth who are joining their family business rather than usual trend in Punjab of shifting abroad to countries like Canada. This initiative by the association is being lauded by many as amidst the move abroad trend by youth from rural background a lot of youth belonging to well off and affluent families of Punjab are opting to move abroad rather than carry on with their generations old family business. During the meeting besides discussing the functioning of the association and future plans, the issues being faced by industrialists from different departments specially PSPCL were also discussed.

Some of the prominent persons who were present in this AGM included Chief patron cum chairman Surjit Singh Lotey, Chairman Paramjeet Singh Shira, Senior Vice Chairman Mahal Singh, Vice Chairman Sanjay Mehta, Deputy Chief Engineer of PSPCL Anil Kumar Sharma, Sukran Singh Additional SE and SDO Amit Yadav.  The meeting commenced with Association's General Secretary Ranjit Singh Rimpa who later on also presented financials of the association in front of the members.

After this President Amarjit Singh Chauhan apprised Chief Guest Inderpal Singh about Daba Road and surrounding areas facing multiple issues like lose wires, dangling pole due to which power supply remains interrupted. Chauhan also drew attention of PSPCL chief engineer towards the shortage of staff at Estate Division office where lodging power supply related complaint has also become a daunting task. “Factory owners are already facing multiple challenges on different fronts and PSPCL related problems are making the matters worse, therefore the higher authorities must ensure smooth and uninterrupted power supply along with robust complaint redressal system” Chief engineer assured the industrialists that their problems will be resolved soon.

During the program Small Scale Industry Association's Cashier Giani Harbhajan Singh was honored for 30 years of his service to the association was bestowed “Lifetime Achievement Award” with the Life Time Achievement Award.  Industrialists Manjinder Singh, Bhajanpal Singh, Jatinder Singh briefed the members about their latest CNC machiners and how the industrialists can boost their production at fractional cost by use of the new technology.

During the closing ceremony Patron cum Chairman Surjit Singh Lotey president Amarjit Singh Chauhan, Mahal Singh, Parmjeet Singh Shira, Ranjit Singh Rimpa, Nirmal Singh Gabria, Parmjeet Singh Pammi Sohal presented mementos and the 2024’s calendar of the Association to the members and guests. Young entrepreneurs Nirmal Singh Gabria, Loknath Pandey, Gautam Jain, Sanjeev Kansal, Gagandeep Singh Chawla, Gurminder Singh, Gurmukh Singh Gabria, Kulbir Singh Kler, Angrez Singh, Jaswinder Singh Khurl, Deedar Singh, Iqbal Singh, Navdeep Singh, Balbir Singh Kler, Sanjeev Mahita, Jay Prakash Pandey, Kulwant Singh were also present.
