Witnessing heavy footfall from all walks of life, the 'Flower and Baby Show' of Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana concluded on a high note in Nehru Rose Garden on Sunday. MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi participated in the show on the second day wherein competitions were held for different categories including Baby Show, 'cut flower' competition, rangoli, painting competition etc.
Musical extravaganza also enthralled the participants with children dancing to the beats of different songs. Prize distribution ceremony was also held on the second and last day of the two day show and MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi felicitated the winners with certificates and trophies.
The two-day show was inaugurated by Ludhiana West MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi on Saturday. In total, 341 entries were received for competitions held under different categories including 'pot flower' competition, 'cut flower' competition, Baby Show, Rangoli, painting etc. School students, government departments, institutes, individuals etc participated in the competitions.
The entries were judged by a panel of experts including the experts from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). Along with the winners, the judges were also felicitated by MC Commission Sandeep Rishi. MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi participated in the event along with his wife Kamaldeep Sharma and announced that the 'Flower and Baby Show' would now be an annual event. He stated that the civic body could not organise the 'Flower and Baby Show' for a few years after Covid-19 pandemic, but from now on, the show would be organised every year to encourage plantation/greenery.
Sandeep Rishi further appreciated the civic body officials and residents for participating in the show and encouraged them to promote greenery/plantation in their houses and surrounding areas. MC Superintending Engineer (SE) Sanjay Kanwar, Executive Engineer Manjitinder Singh, Executive Engineer Surinder Singh, JE Kirpal Singh, Landscaping Officer Rajinder Singh among others were also present on the occasion.
