In a startling revelation more than Rs. 200 crore cash has been recovered by Income Tax Department in raids being conducted on more than 25 premises in Odisha and Jharkhand allegedly linked with Congress’s Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand Dhiraj Sahu. The action which has sent shockwaves amongst political circles and has even caught attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being led by Punjab lad from Barnala, Gurpreet singh. Singh who is a 2010 batch IRS officer from Barnala is Additional Director of income tax ( investigation ) , Orissa and prior to this he was posted in Gujarat where too he had done extremely great work.
According to highly placed sources, IT teams are still counting the cash recovered from the raided premises and so far currency notes worth more than Rs. 200 crore have been counted and department officials had to use trucks to ferry the seized cash to move them to bank from raided premises. is being executed by team of more than fifty IT officers and hundreds of paramilitary personnel which are being led by
Meanwhile PM Narendra Modi has taken potshots on the opposition and without naming any political party he has tweeted about this raid. In his tweet which has now got more than 4 Million views PM Modi has shared clipping of news and pics about this IT action published in a Hindi daily and said, “देशवासी इन नोटों के ढेर को देखें और फिर इनके नेताओं के ईमानदारी के 'भाषणों' को सुनें... जनता से जो लूटा है, उसकी पाई-पाई लौटानी पड़ेगी, यह मोदी की गारंटी है।“(Countrymen should look at the stash of these notes and then listen to the speeches about honesty by their leaders.
