Executive committee meeting of leading business association of Punjab, Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) was held on 28th December at its Focal Point headquarters in Ludhiana. The meeting was presided over by CICU president Upkar Singh Ahuja while other office bearers were also present on the occasion.
Issues and challenges related to the state industry like pending scheme for TUF, Focal points and Jugaina road maintenance, Imports of goods like Auto Parts, Cycle Parts, Garments, Textiles were part of the discussions held in the meeting. CICU members expressed concern that these goods imported from countries by paying lower import duties have an unfavourable price advantage in domestic market and for very long some people are engaged in unfair trade practices.
Issues related to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) specially Advance Compulsory Deposit Scheme, Export and import policy, BIS Mark mandatory for Cycles industries, EPR On Tyres, Gas leakage and many other issues were discussed.
Presiding over the meeting Upkar Singh Ahuja, briefed participants about the initiatives undertaken by CICU for the betterment of the state’s industry. Speakig on the occasion Ahuja said, “Industry should go for quality and cost control, India is a big opportunity in coming years and we are going in reverse engineering. For the greener environment” Ahuja also suggested businessmen to adopt the Micro forest (MIYAWAK TECHNIQUE) in the vacant areas of factories and given examples P K steels.
J S Bhogal, Organizing Secretary, CICU discussed about the upcoming initiatives of CICU for the benefit of the members. The meeting was attended by more than 50 Executive Committee members like, Gautam Malhotra, SKanish Kaura, Surinder Singh, Mandeep Singh Suri, Ajay Bharti, Kuljit Singh, Suresh Gupta, Jasbir Singh Sokhi, J K Sablok, Jaspal Singh, Deepak Jain, Vinod Dhall, Harjot Singh, Rajinder Goyal, Harkesh Mittal, and other senior members were present in this meeting.
