Liquor contractors urge PB govt to renew old contracts with 5 percent enhancement

In wake of the excise policy of Punjab 2024-25 about to be finalised in few days, different groups of liquor traders are on their toes as they are of the view that it would be in best interest of the state and traders if the old contracts for vends are renewed with 5 percent enhancement in last year’s cost.

According to highly placed sources in the liquor lobby, several contractors have already conveyed this to the higher officials in the Excise Department and are hopeful that their demand will be accepted.

Sources also informed that contractors are also okay in case there is nominal increase in the rates of per bottle of liquor of different kinds but subject to renewal of their contracts with maximum of 5 percent.

Meanwhile round of meetings of the committees formed by the excise department to formulate and draft the excise policy have almost concluded and now it is highly likely that the new policy is approved in next one week.

It has also been learnt by Thesocial24 that this time around twelve different committees were formed by Excise Commissioner Punjab to formulate the excise policy for the year 2024-25, some of which include Committee for fixation of Ex-distillery price, Committee for Group formation, Committee for study of E-lottery system etc.
