NCB busts interstate drug racket, Ludhiana resident arrested

In a major enforcement action, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Chandigarh Zone has made a crucial arrest in case of interstate opium racket being run in Punjab & Jharkhand. According to highly placed sources, based upon intelligence developed by NCB, a team of central agency on January 16th intercepted KIA Seltos car at Shambu barrier on Punjab Haryana border. Thorough search of car led to recovery of 38.080 kgs of suspected Opium from the car after which NCB arrested the car owner who belongs to Ludhiana. Sources also confirmed that the accused who is around 47 years old is kingpin of this racket. After the arrest, searches were conducted at Ludhiana home of the accused and NCB sleuths took into possession several documents and other articles. Meanwhile when contacted NCB Zonal Director IRS Amanjit Singh confirmed the arrest but refused to divulge further details. Further investigation in this case is underway and more arrests are likely in coming day.
